Physician Competition Effects

An interesting study examined the impact of competition among cardiologists on service provision and patients' health outcomes in the United States. Authors found that cardiologists in more concentrated markets perform more diagnostic procedures. On the other hand, higher concentration result in fewer readmissions but has no effect on mortality.
